Mexico secured its place in the World Cup knockout stage with a 1-0 win over South Korea. The result guarantees El Tri a spot in the next round and leaves them on top of Group A with one match remaining.

It was not an impressive performance, but it was enough. Mexico struggled to create chances, took advantage of a key moment, and held on to its lead against a South Korean side that pushed for an equalizer.

The match will not be remembered for its quality, but Mexico got the result it needed. In tournament football, that is often all that matters.
